Pinhole Photography

What is pinhole photography and why is it interesting?

Pinhole photography is just the same a regular photography with only one real difference. Instead of a lens there is a tiny hole which allows light into the camera to form the image. It is one of the oldest ways we have of creating images and dates back to the 6th century BC.

What do pinhole photographs look like

Pinhole photography has a distinct look and feel. Images tend to be soft, grainy and are often said to have a surreal quality.

Pinhole cameras are so simple that they can be made from household items. Many pinhole photographers challenge themselves to make their cameras out of the most bizarre array of bottles, boxes, tin cans and even shells. Of course you can buy ready made pinhole cameras and adapters for your regular camera, but where is the fun in that?
